About Matilda Hartley

You don’t need to shout to be heard.

I’ve spent more than a decade in boardrooms, sales teams, and leadership roles across industries. And here’s what I noticed: the loudest voices weren’t always the smartest ones.

Too often, decisions were made by those who dominated the room, while the most thoughtful contributions went unheard — only surfacing after the meeting was over, when it was too late to matter.

That frustrated me.
Not just because of the noise, but because of the missed potential.

My Work

I’m a business author and sales director, but more than that, I’m a voice for those who don’t always feel heard. My book Quiet Power: The Introvert’s Guide to Thriving in the Boardroom is about giving people the tools to succeed without putting on a show — no corporate theatre required.

I believe leadership without ego is not only possible, it’s powerful. Quiet leaders bring balance, perspective, and clarity. They think before they speak. They listen before they act. And when they do contribute, they often shape the smartest outcomes.

My mission is to help professionals — especially introverts and those who don’t fit the “loud leader” mould — to find their voice, trust their ideas, and thrive on their own terms.

My Approach

  • Calm clarity over chaos – No jargon, no noise, just real strategies that work.

  • Confidence without ego – You don’t need bravado to be respected.

  • Practical tools, not empty buzzwords – Because nobody needs another “10X your hustle” talk.

  • Humour with honesty – Business can (and should) make room for humanity.

Beyond the Boardroom

When I’m not writing or leading, you’ll usually find me outdoors — walking, training at the gym, or clearing my head in nature. That’s where most of my best thinking happens. I’ve learned that strategy isn’t forged in the noise of endless meetings, but in the quiet moments where ideas have space to breathe.

Why I Write

I write for the people who sit in meetings with brilliant ideas but hold back because the room is too loud.
I write for those who’ve been told to “speak up more” but know that volume isn’t the same as value.
I write for anyone who’s felt they had to perform a version of themselves just to get ahead.

If that sounds like you, know this: you are enough. You don’t need to become “one of them” to succeed.

Let’s Build Something Different

Leadership doesn’t have to be loud.
Success doesn’t have to come at the cost of your identity.
And the workplace doesn’t have to reward ego over insight.

That’s the shift I’m here to create — one boardroom, one book, one reader at a time.
